I was delighted to be present and have Butler Associates working in support of Prostate Cancer awareness and screening issues around World Cancer Day and to kick off 2025 New York Fashion Week with free medical screenings being provided in both Brooklyn and Harlem. That day, more than 70 men obtained prostate antigen (PSA) tests in Mount Sinai’s “Robert F. Smith Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Clinic.”
Our client Local Initiatives Support Corp (LISC) partnered with nonprofit advocacy group ZERO Prostate Cancer, Mount Sinai Hospital, Johnson & Johnson, Carver Bank and other organizations to sponsor “The Blue Jacket Initiative,” a fashion movement raising awareness about and acting on risks of prostate cancer affecting 300,000 men annually, causing more than 35,000 deaths.
LISC announced it is adding the “Blue Jacket Initiative” to its $28.3 million national health platform, bringing mobile prostate screening coast to coast to reach thousands of men across the country.
“Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in American men, and it disproportionately affects minority communities. Through initiatives like this and the free mobile screening units, we can eliminate health disparities and build a healthier America,” said Michael T. Pugh, LISC President & CEO.
At one of several medical screening events LISC helped lead, Urologist Errol Mallett, MD explained the need to destigmatize prostate testing and educate the public of rapid blood testing that can provide results in just 20 minutes, thus increasing access to prevention via free, mobile cancer screenings in cities nationwide.
Thank you to the members of the news media including Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America, People Magazine, the U.K.’s Daily Mail, and countless others who turned out to spotlight this great cause and advancements in medical testing that can save lives.
Assembled by “Blue Jacket” founder Frederick Anderson, the show featured notable celebrities ranging from “Bill Nye The Science Guy” to actor Mario Cantone with appearances by talk show host Tamron Hall, five time Grammy nominated artist Jeezy, LISC President & CEO Michael Pugh, newsmen Mike Woods of Good Day New York and Don Lemon, all for the cause of spotlighting the fight against prostate cancer and to raise money to help fund ZERO Prostate Cancer’s mission to end prostate cancer and aid those affected by it.
